                                  WHAT ARE WE ABOUT?
Established in 1984, Jr Comet Sports was organized for the purpose of developing and operating a community youth sports program for boys and girls primarily within the jurisdiction of School District 6, which had no youth sport programs of any kind, at that time.

It is the goal and objective of this organization to implant in the communities youth the ideals of the "Code of Sportsmanship" and "Fair Play" which should be an integral part of all sport and group activities in general.

What is the emphasis of Junior Comet Sports Programs?

1.  Enjoyment / Fun

2.  Sportsmanship / Self-Restraint

3.  Responsibility / Work Ethic

4.  Social Development / Teamwork

5.  Equal participation for all, is the backbone of Jr Comet Sports and it is written into the Constitution.

Each player (as near as possible) plays an equal number of quarters, in "each game" and by "seasons end".

              This assumes:

         a.  Each practice was attended the week prior to the next scheduled game.

         b.  The child was on time to both practices and games.

         c.  The Child's behavior has been acceptable at both practices and games.

Coaches are NOT expected to make up Playing Time (or reduced playing time) due to a participant not following the expectations in A, B and C above.

Practice is the key.   It is at practice where a “Team” and a “Player’s Abilities” are developed to their full potential.   It is disrespectful of a coach for a player to be habitually late or to miss practice, especially if the coach was not contacted prior to that practice.   Coaches plan their practice on the assumption that all their players will be in attendance.

All of our coaches are volunteers.   That however, does not mean they do not care.   They devote their time to mold a “team” and give your child a chance to learn the fundamental skills and knowledge of the game.   Coaches become committed to their Players and Team, they would not earn the title "COACH" if they did not.

I sincerely hope that all of your dealings with Jr Comet Sports are positive, productive, eventful and FUN for your child.   Thanks for visiting our website.       Darryl Summerfield
